Hey, thanks for visiting our site. Heat Index was formed three years ago by several serious musicians looking to play jazz funk music with a distinctive sound, while keeping true to the tradition and spirit of The Jazz Crusaders and Grover Washington, Jr. The band has achieved a great deal of success since playing its first live date in the fall of 2002. Having held regular spots in the rotations at clubs both on the Plaza and in the Jazz District, we have also played numerous private events for corporations and civic organizations around the Kansas City area. Recently we have decided to play more jazz festivals and special events where music is the primary focus. This summer's return engagements at both Jazz in the Woods and Parkville's Jazz Jam are a harbinger of good things to come for Heat Index.
June, 2005 - Heat Index Personnel Change
Clint Ashlock , trumpet and flugal horn, has joined the band. Come hear him blow some of his mind boggling solos. Welcome, Clint! June, 2005 - Live Recording Heat Index recorded their live performance at Parkville's Jazz, Blues, and Fine Arts River Jam. July, 2005 - New Live CD The band has decided to release selected songs from their Parkville recording.
